5 Truths About Online Coaching Business You Didn’t Know

Starting an online coaching business seemed like a great idea for you but now you are stuck in a business that doesn’t quite give you the freedom or fulfil the vision you had when you’ve started your journey. 

Does it sound about right?

There are many things no one told you when you started your business and now you are the one suffering and left alone to figure it out because at the end of the day, you do love coaching! What you probably don’t like is the business aspect of it.

 

Truth #1: You are a business owner now!

You are NOT just an online coach. You are the business owner of your online coaching business.

You are wearing a minimum of two hats which are “The Coach” and “The Owner”.

But when you are starting out, you are also wearing the sales, marketing, admin, social media, client support, operations, finances, legal… I mean, ALL the hats, you can think of

The secret problem here is “you can think of”..

If you don’t have a business background and if this is your first time as an entrepreneur, you just don’t know how many hats you truly need to run your business.

Running a business is VERY different than being a coach.

 

Truth #2: Accept that you are the salesperson to your coaching business!

If you are not selling, you are not getting clients and if you don’t have clients, you don’t have a business.

It’s that simple!

Getting over your sales mindset issues is extremely important.

That does not mean you need to become the type of salesperson you always hated but you’ll need to learn and find a sales strategy that works for you and that is aligned with who you are and what you represent.

 

Truth #3: You have a LOT to learn!

 

Running your own business and growing that same business requires a lot of learning and getting out of your comfort zone.

Once you get through the basics of business and start growing, other levels of knowledge will be required so it is a constant learning process.

For example, once you scale your business and you bring a new team member in, you need to become a leader and that requires learning and dedication. 

Growing a business and hiring a team means that YOU NEED TO STEP UP and become a leader and a CEO. If you are not ready to be a leader, your team will never meet your expectations.

 

 

Truth #4: Stop following the “online coaching gurus”!

 

I’ve seen time and time again, online coaches who’ve purchased all these “amazing” programs that promise you the world and tell you that if you follow their method or formula, you’ll have a 6-7 figure business.

It just doesn’t work like that. 

What worked for them, may not work for you.

Each business is unique and must be treated that way.

Your client persona is unique, you are unique, the coaching you deliver is unique. If you are not considering the uniqueness of your business, there is no amount of formula that will work for you.

 

Truth #5: Scaling from 1:1 to 1 to many is more than just launching a new offer!

 

Raise your hand if you have ever joined a group program or bought a course that just didn’t deliver what was promised and it was WAY below your expectations?

When we talk about scaling your online coaching business with a group offer, you need to be certain you can deliver on your promise, otherwise that will ruin your reputation and you’ll build a terrible rapport.

It’s not just about launching and selling the new offer.

It is about building a complete experience and delivering on your promise with excellence, so your new clients want to continue working with you and are ready to re-invest in you and even join your higher paying offers.

You see.. There is a lot more to running a coaching business than you thought and we didn’t even cover the practical side of things yet.
